The dispute between cybersecurity company CrowdStrike and Delta Air Lines over the recent I.T. outage has escalated. CrowdStrike’s lawyers have denied responsibility for the flight cancellations and insisted that Delta alone is to blame for the incident. The airline has hired a prominent litigator and plans to seek damages of $500 million. Both companies’ shares have fallen since the outage. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg provided initial insights into the cause of the problem, mentioning CrowdStrike’s software as a potential factor. CrowdStrike questioned why Delta was more affected than its competitors and highlighted the airline’s response to the situation.
