Eggs Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination #

65 people across nine states have fallen ill in a salmonella outbreak linked to recalled eggs. Of the 63 cases with available information, 24 individuals have been hospitalized. The CDC warns that treating the outbreak with commonly recommended antibiotics may prove difficult as lab tests have shown resistance to nalidixic acid and ciprofloxacin. The contaminated eggs, labeled as Milo’s Poultry Farms or Tony’s Fresh Market, were supplied by Milo’s Poultry Farms LLC and distributed to stores and restaurants in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The recall was initiated on Friday. People are advised to discard or return the affected eggs and thoroughly clean any items or surfaces that may have come into contact with them. Symptoms of salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, which may arise within hours or days after consumption. Seek medical attention if experiencing severe symptoms, symptoms that persist for an extended period, or signs of dehydration.
