The sale of a professional women’s soccer club, Seattle Reign FC, has been finalized. Seattle Sounders FC ownership group and investment firm Carlyle have partnered to take over the club. Adrian Hanauer, the majority owner of the Sounders, will serve as the Reign’s governor on the NWSL board. The Reign have also appointed a new chief business officer, Maya Mendoza-Exstrom, who is currently the Sounders’ chief operating officer. With both teams now under the same management, the Sounders organization aims to leverage its success in Major League Soccer to solidify the Reign’s presence in Seattle.
