Leading shipping groups have called for action against Houthi attacks on vessels in the Red Sea following the sinking of a second freighter in recent weeks. The attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least three seafarers and disrupted trade routes, causing shipping costs to soar and congestion at ports. The shipping associations have condemned the attacks and urged governments in the region to protect seafarers and de-escalate the situation. The Houthi rebels, based in Yemen, have been launching drone and missile strikes on Red Sea vessels since November.
