Too Racy for Times Square? An Ad for Lactation Cookies Is Replaced.

An image of a pregnant woman wearing a rhinestone bikini top and holding oatmeal cookies was displayed on a digital billboard in Times Square. The billboard advertised lactation cookies, aimed at promoting milk production, in collaboration with a breastfeeding start-up. However, the ad was taken down three days later due to violating content guidelines. A company involved in the ad placement explained that the artwork was “flagged for review” and replaced with a new image featuring the woman on a kitchen counter. The incident highlights the ongoing double standard in advertising where sexualized breasts are deemed acceptable while nursing or lactating ones are not.
